Coming back to Work “Employer’s Obligations & Avoiding Liability Claims”

With companies preparing themselves to get their staff back to office environments over the coming weeks and months, an upcoming free of charge Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce webinar will focus on the obligations of employers and how to avoid any liability claims featuring expert speakers from Ashbourne Insurance and Curwens Solicitors. From an insurance perspective, Peter Smits, Managing Director at Ashbourne Insurance, will provide guidance on how to safely reinstate business following recent government announcements. From buildings and premises, to people (including staff and visitors) and reviewing equipment/machinery, he will offer help to delegates to plan reopening with a measured approach.

Kaajal Nathwani, Partner, Employment Law, at Curwens Solicitors, from an employment law perspective will discuss employer obligations, give guidance on how to ensure that adequate health and safety measures are taken to facilitate return to work, and avoid any potential claims.

Peter Smits was appointed Managing Director of multi-award-winning Ashbourne Insurance in 2008, where he has worked for over twenty years. He has been a key member of the Keychoice Broker Forum (Insurance Industry) for a few years where he provides significant input and guidance to help shape the direction Keychoice takes for its members. Peter also sits on the steering committee of David Lloyd Police and Crime Commissioner’s “Hertfordshire’s Independent Business Advisory Group (IBAG)”.

Kaajal Nathwani is Head of the Employment Department at Curwens Solicitors and has extensive experience in all aspects of employment law. An accomplished litigator, Kaajal has advised both individuals and businesses on complex disputes in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal. Kaajal is experienced drafting bespoke employment contracts, policies and procedures for businesses as well as providing guidance for employers & employees through complex and sensitive disciplinary and grievance situations.
