A team of insurance brokers have weighed up the risks and decided to take on a range of tough physical challenges.
While the day job at Ashbourne Insurance may be about helping customers to prepare for uncertainty, the brokers are throwing caution to the wind in the name of charity.
Thomas Matthews, Sales Advisor at family-run independent insurance broker Ashbourne Insurance, based in Hoddesdon, Herts is teaming up with sister Katie to take on the annual Give Your Town The Run Around on September 24th. The daring duo are hoping to complete the 8km run through Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire to raise money for the RSPCA.
Commercial Account Handler, Leone Tracey will be taking part in the Battersea Park, London 10km fundraiser, in memory of her mother, also on 24th September 2017. She is hoping to raise £1,000 which will go towards helping find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Colleague Paul Richardson, Retail Sales Manager, has already braved a Tough Mudder challenge this month and is preparing to take on another on September 23rd. He is joining a local team who are on a mission to raise £10,000 for Cancer Research.
Paul, who has already suffered a fractured finger, cuts and bruises from the first event, said: “My brother-in-law, Matthew Briscoe, Science Teacher at John Warner School and his friends are taking on ten Tough Mudders throughout the year across England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany. I was keen to join them to try and help them to reach the target and to give them as much support as I can. Cancer has had a significant impact on many of us with the loss of loved ones and the pain of seeing others go through the whole process. We wish to make a difference. Tough Mudder is all about helping each other to overcome your fears and obstacles and the more of you in the team, the lighter the load.”
Ashbourne’s Finance Director, Sarah Smits comments,” We are very proud of our team members Thomas, Leone and Paul for taking on these challenges to raise important funds for two very worthwhile causes. The culture at Ashbourne is to support many local charities and encourage all of our staff to be active whenever they can. Collectively we have raised tens of thousands of pounds over the years for local and national good causes and we wish Thomas, Leone, Paul and their families all the best for great results.”
