The Spirit of Christmas shared locally by Ashbourne Staff

The team at family run insurance firm Ashbourne Insurance embraced a request from Retail Sales Advisor, Rico Messam to help feed some worthy families in Broxbourne this Christmas 2020. They helped Rico raise an impressive £200 in donations for St Augustine’s Church in Hoddesdon which funded food and essential items for those in need which were donated on Monday 7th December.

When the request was emailed to the team on 23rd November, staff decided to swap their traditional ‘Secret Santa’ gift giving to contribute cash which went towards Christmas food shopping for local families who are in need of support this festive period.

Rico said, “As we’re approaching Christmas, I thought we could all do something for those less fortunate around Hertfordshire. Every week or so my Mum does a food shop for St Augustine’s Church in Hoddesdon. The Priest at St Augustine’s said that since lockdown people are relying on food banks and donations more than ever. He has been inundated with so many people who have lost their jobs simply struggling to feed their families. With Christmas approaching, essential items are needed urgently and I felt compelled to help. Thank you to all my colleagues for supporting wholeheartedly!”
