Fundraising Support For Teens Unite Is Riding High

Since choosing Teens Unite to be their Charity of the Year 2015/16 two months ago, Ashbourne Insurance’s staff have fully embraced a wide variety of fundraising challenges that have already seen in excess of £1650 raised with many more thousands on the horizon which local residents and businesses can get involved with.

Last week’s Lola’s cupcake sale and quiz night (both Thurs July 2nd) raised over £230.

Emma Sibthorpe, Hoddesdon Retail Sales Manager was the mastermind behind the cake sale initiative and is particularly grateful to all the local businesses for their generous donations and support in purchasing cakes on the day. Special thanks to Lola’s Cupcakes for donating 100 glorious cupcakes and Michael Kaufman from Lola’s for arranging the balloons, bags and cake boxes. Several business networking colleagues popped in from all over Broxbourne and East Herts to buy cakes and these included representatives from: Forever living, Herts Regional College, Hype Branding, LensFlair Digital, HB Accountants, Orchard Maintenance, JR Taxi Services and Best of Both Worlds Ltd. Equally Matthew Hunt, Commercial Sales Director and quizmaster is very grateful to Huckleberry’s Chicken for donating all the lovely food at the evening’s quiz.

On July 12th novice runners Thomas Matthews and Tezel Wilson, Ashbourne Retail Sales Advisors, will be running the British 10k London Run in aid of Teens Unite and have already surpassed their fundraising target of £200.00. They will be joined by Katie Smits, Jack Smits and Natasha Smits â all family relations of Ashbourne’s Managing Director and Finance Director. On Saturday September 5th, brothers Paul and David Richardson will be holding a 12 hour non-stop badminton rally at John Warner Sports Centre starting at 7am and finishing at 7pm. Paul Richardson, Ashbourne’s Cheshunt Retail Sales Manager said, “Dave and I rode a stationary bike from Cheshunt to Texas last year as a fundraising exercise and this year we are trying to outperform our target of £1,000. Teens Unite is an amazing charity helping so many young people living with cancer that it seems the least we can offer. They need to raise £4,000,000 to build a new, state of the art respite home in Broxbourne and we really want to help get them there. If anyone would like to visit us on the day we would appreciate the support and there will be prizes for a few competitions. To donate please visit https://www.justgiving.com/TeensUniteBadmintonMarathon. Thanks so much!”

And between 15th and 23rd October, Finance Director Sarah Smits will be heading to Cuba with Teens Unite Co-founder, Debbie Pezzani and several other cyclists to travel 350km to raise as much money for the charity as possible. To donate to Sarah’s event please visit https://www.justgiving.com/cubasarah/. To find out more about the Cuba trip and other challenges please visit http://teensunitefightingcancer.org/what-can-you-do/challenges/.

Debbie Pezzani is delighted with the efforts that Ashbourne Insurance is making and planning forward. She said, “Well done to everyone and thank you very much to all the Ashbourne staff for taking Teens Unite into their hearts and arranging some wonderful events. Our team and the young people who benefit from the special days are so grateful for your support. Keep up the great work!”
