Ashbourne Win Prestigious “Business Of The Year” Award

Independent high street broker Ashbourne Insurance has beaten off stiff competition to win the prestigious HCCI “Small to Medium Business of the Year” award.

Ashbourne Insurance won the coveted title at the Inspiring Hertfordshire Awards 2013 on 16 May, 2013. Organised by the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry the awards are designed to “celebrate success and achievement and boost business confidence in Hertfordshire”.

Ashbourne’s Managing Director, Peter Smits and Finance Director, Sarah Smits were presented with the award by Richard Bland of KISS Communications in front of more than 300 guests at a gala dinner held at the Porsche Centre in Hatfield.

Speaking at the event Peter Smits said: “We are so pleased to have won this award and it is a testament to the hard work that every member of our staff put in to offering outstanding customer care every day. We have invested in significant hours of training and developed our own unique charter of service entitled “the Ashbourne Way”. Everything we have done over the past 33 years has influenced our ability to win this award tonight. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and their panel of esteemed judges.”

Explaining their decision the judges commented: “Ashbourne Insurance is a family-run, award-winning high street broker with 30 years’ experience serving both the local business community and personal customers. Despite huge competition from on-line insurers and the on-going economic downturn, Ashbourne Insurance has defied the odds to see its turnover grow substantially. They have developed a strong networking strategy for the company creating good relationships and rapport and to this end have seen a staggering 44% increase in their business. “

Ashbourne Insurance, which has served the residents and businesses of Hertfordshire and Essex for over 30 years, also reached the final at the same event in two further categories; Excellence in People Development and Excellence in Customer Service.

The 33-year-old family-run business, which also has offices in Cheshunt and Hoddesdon, provides both personal and commercial insurance. The commercial side has expanded over recent years with more and more local businesses – from sole traders to multi-million pound organisations – turning to Ashbourne for a variety of services including Professional Indemnity Insurance, Business Liability Insurance, shop insurance, office insurance, property owners insurance, motor fleet insurance and motor trade insurance.
